Editor's note

Zoroastro, a Rio band with a prophet's name

A Brazilian group that formed in the mid-1990s and released three albums across two decades.

For a quick taste, try "A Vida do Cabra da Peste" or "De Longe Também Se Ama." They're both good examples of what the band does.

They came out of Rio de Janeiro in the '90s with a sound that's hard to pin down, mixing things up across their three records. A song like "A Vida do Cabra da Peste" gives you a sense of their grounded, slightly off-kilter feel. They've kept a core lineup for years, which gives their work a consistent hand.

The band started in 1995 and put out their first album in 1998. They followed it with "Devagar" in 2004 and then waited over a decade before "Um Buquê de Flores" in 2017.
