Zortin formed in São Paulo in 1994 with Mauricio Araújo on vocals, André Menezes on guitar, Leandro Amendola on bass, and Roberto Gomes on drums. They released six studio albums between 1997 and 2012, starting with 'Violência Extrema' and ending with 'O Fim da Inocência'.
Their songs like 'Anoitecer Violento' and 'Cotidiano Suicida' dealt with violence and social injustice in blunt terms.
Zortin's music found an audience among listeners who responded to its direct approach to Brazil's social realities. They kept recording through the 2000s with albums like 'O Ódio Venceu' and 'A Verdadeira Face da Morte' before their final release in 2012.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
