Zotty & Pit were a German blues duo from Hamburg, active in the 1970s and 1980s. The pair consisted of Jürgen Zöttlein, known as Zotty, and Peter Müller, called Pit. They released their first album, "Der 13. Blues," in 1975.
Their best-known song is "Stempel - Blues," which came out in 1978. The track dealt plainly with unemployment and became something of an anthem for people out of work. They followed it with other albums like "Viertel vor Zwölf" in 1979 and "Chaos" in 1986.
Zotty handled the vocals with a raw, direct style, while Pit played guitar, often using slide techniques. They kept a fairly low profile, rarely giving interviews or playing shows outside Germany. Their music focused on everyday struggles, avoiding the more polished or commercial sounds of some contemporaries.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
