Zouk Machine formed in 1986 in Guadeloupe, led by singer and composer Gilles Floro. Their song 'Pisime Zouke' became an early hit that helped establish their sound. The band's lineup included Floro on vocals along with Jocelyn Labylle, Dominique Zorobabel on keyboards, and Jean-Marie Ragald on bass.
In 1990, the group split into two factions, with Floro leading one and Labylle and Zorobabel forming another. They reunited in 2000 for a comeback album. Over time, their music incorporated elements of R&B, soul, and funk into their zouk foundation.
They released albums including La Machine à Zouk in 1986, Doucement in 1987, Secrets in 1989, and Reunion in 2000. Their song 'M'moi' also became part of their catalog. The group collaborated with artists including Kassav', Jocelyne Beroard, and Tanya St. Val.
