Zucchero Fornaciari, known simply as Zucchero, is an Italian singer-songwriter born in 1955 in Roncocesi. He grew up with a mix of traditional Italian music, blues, and rock influences, drawing early inspiration from Muddy Waters, B.B. King, and Eric Clapton. His debut album 'Un Po Di Zucchero' came out in 1983, blending blues with Italian folk elements.
In 1985, his album 'Rispetto' featured the song 'Solo una Volta,' which became a major hit in Italy and across Europe. The track's emotional vocals and melody connected with listeners, establishing Zucchero's presence beyond Italy. He later worked with artists like Sting, Paul Young, Luciano Pavarotti, and B.B. King, and released his first English-language album 'Blue's' in 1991 with contributions from Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck.
Zucchero has continued to record and perform, with albums such as 'Miserere' in 1992, 'Bluesugar' in 1999, and more recent releases like 'Black Cat' in 2016 and 'D.O.C.' in 2018. His music often circles back to that blues foundation he picked up early on, heard in songs like 'Alone Again.'
