Zuleide Vóvó formed in Brazil in 1974, led by vocalist Zuleide Ferreira dos Santos. The band included Arthur Maia on keyboards, Bidinho on guitar, Luizinho on bass, and Wilson on drums. They released their self-titled debut album that same year, followed by 'Isso É Zuleide Vóvó' in 1975.
Their 1977 album 'A Year Without Rain' became an international hit, with the title track remaining one of their best-known songs. Other notable tracks include 'When I Look At You' and 'Zuleide de Vil.' The group's sound incorporated Brazilian rhythms like samba and bossa nova alongside pop elements.
Zuleide Ferreira dos Santos, known affectionately as Vóvó, passed away in 2021. The band's music continues to be heard in Brazil and beyond, with their recordings from the 1970s maintaining a presence in Brazilian popular music.
