Archive material and source history
Zum formed in São Paulo in 1998 with vocalist Fernanda Takai, guitarist Ícaro Silva, bassist Fernando Dotta, and drummer Guilherme Sobrinho. Their self-titled debut album came out the following year. The band's sound pulls from pop, rock, and Brazilian rhythms.
One of their best-known songs is 'Miragem,' a ballad from 2003. The lineup changed in 2005 when Sobrinho and Dotta left, replaced by bassist Felipe Cambraia and drummer Renato Galvão. They've released several albums since, including 'Distopia' in 2011 and 'Zum 20' in 2019.
Takai and Silva remain at the core, with Cambraia and Galvão rounding out the current quartet. They still perform live in Brazil and elsewhere.
