Zumbis formed in São Paulo in 1985 with Guilherme Arantes on vocals and guitar, Fábio Leão on bass, and Ivan Marcius on drums. Their sound was raw from the start, mixing punk energy with Brazilian rhythms in a way that felt immediate and unpolished.
They put out albums like 'Zumbis' in 1986 and 'Tributo ao Caos' in 1988, and later did an acoustic session for MTV in 2001.
Arantes and Leão stayed with the band through various lineup changes. Their catalog includes tracks like 'A Flor Do Maracujá' and 'Você É Uma Garota Estranha' that kept that same direct, confrontational tone.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
