ZurdaKa formed in Bogotá, Colombia in the early 2000s around vocalist and percussionist Diana Burko, guitarist and vocalist Camilo Lara, and bassist Emiliano Mojica. Their debut album 'Pido' came out in 2007, with the title track becoming their breakthrough. The band's sound mixed Andean melodies with electronic beats.
They released several more albums including 'Crudo' in 2010, 'Selva' in 2013, 'Memorias' in 2016, and 'Resistencia' in 2020. Other musicians like Nicolás Ospina on drums, Ricardo Muñoz on guitar, and vocalists Juliana Bernal and María Mojica have played with the group over time.
In 2010, they faced accusations of inciting violence after performing a song critical of the government at a concert, leading to canceled shows. They continued writing about issues like poverty and inequality.
