Archive material and source history
Zuzana Smatanová was born in 1984 in Trnava, Slovakia. She started singing in a children's choir called Zornička when she was seven. In 2002, she appeared on the TV competition Slovensko hľadá SuperStar, which brought her some early attention even though she didn't win.
Her debut album 'Entirely Different' came out in 2003. Songs like 'Personal' and 'Entirely Good' show her leaning toward pop with some folk and rock touches. She's mentioned Ella Fitzgerald and Janis Joplin as influences, but her sound stays fairly straightforward Slovak pop.
In 2009, she had surgery for vocal cord nodules. She kept recording after that, putting out albums like 'Dvere' in 2011 and 'Hlas' in 2018. Her band includes guitarist Martin Gašpar and bassist Peter Luha, among others.
