ZW formed in Mexico City in 1997 with Marisol Centeno on vocals, Mauricio Mayer on guitar, Pablo Preciado on bass, and Jesus "Chuy" Baez on drums. They released their debut album "Contracorriente" in 1999, but it was their 2002 album "Dejame Volar" that brought them wider attention. That album included the song "Momentos," which became their most recognizable track.
In 2008, drummer Chuy Baez died in a car accident. The band continued with Armando Avila joining on drums. They changed their name from Zilvertio to ZW in 2010, a move that divided some fans. Their discography includes seven studio albums through 2019's "Legado."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
