Zyklon

Zyklon formed in 1998 in Oslo, with Samoth (Thomas Thormodsæter Haugen) on vocals and guitar and Trym Torson (Jan Axel Blomberg) on drums. They released three studio albums between 2001 and 2006: 'World of Worms,' 'Aeon,' and 'Disintegrate.' Songs like 'Skinned And Endangered' and 'Hammer Revelation' show their approach to black metal, which often incorporated industrial textures alongside more traditional Scandinavian extreme metal elements.

Their name, taken from the German word for cyclone, drew criticism for its similarity to the Nazi gas chambers. Their lyrics typically dealt with dark themes of death and misanthropy, which aligned with much of the black metal scene at the time but also attracted scrutiny.

Samoth and Trym remained the core members through lineup changes that included bassist Secthdamon and guitarist Destructhor. Their sound was noted for its atmospheric, icy production and aggressive pacing, as heard on tracks like 'Chaos Deathcult' and 'The Prophetic Method.' After 'Disintegrate' in 2006, the band became inactive, leaving behind a small but distinct catalog within Norwegian black metal.
