Zyrex formed in the early 2000s with Ethan James on vocals, Alex Carter on guitar, Jake Wilson on bass, and Michael Smith on drums. They released their debut album 'Hearts on Fire' in 2005.
In 2007, they put out the song 'Love Me, Tell Everything,' which became a straightforward rock track about relationships. It appeared on their album 'Shadows of the Past' that same year.
They kept recording through 2010's 'Dreams of Redemption' and 2014's 'The Phoenix Rises.' The band had some internal disagreements and a public dispute with another group at one point, but they kept playing shows and putting out music.
