13 Cats were an underground band from the 1980s, led by Thomas McIntosh. They had a reputation for being somewhat mysterious, avoiding interviews and publicity. Their song 'Teddy Boy Kung-Fu Weapon' got some radio bans in certain places, which only added to their cult appeal.
They put out a few albums, including 'The Cult of 13 Cats' and 'Ultracats'. The band's lineup included Julian Temple on bass and Paul Trollope on drums. They worked with other musicians like Brian Eno and Robert Fripp at times, which gave their sound some extra texture.
Their music mixed punk with more experimental and art rock elements. 'Teddy Boy Kung-Fu Weapon' became their best-known track, a sort of rebellious anthem that stuck around in certain circles. They didn't last too long as a band, but that one song and their general avoidance of the mainstream kept people talking about them.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
