16 Tommy was a French band formed in the early 2000s by brothers Corentin and Julien Boidin, with Thomas Bramerie on drums and Nicolas Magniez on bass. Their name came from the Corvette Stingray, which they saw as a symbol of the open road. They released their debut album '1000 Milles' in 2006, followed by 'Ma Route' in 2009 and 'Forever' in 2015.
Their song '1000 Milles' became their most recognizable track, though it led to some legal trouble in 2005 over a sample. Other songs like '3 And Half', '6 To 8', and 'A Winter's Tale' showed their mix of rock, pop, and folk influences with straightforward lyrics about travel and reflection.
They kept a fairly low profile after their initial run, with their last album coming out in 2015. The band's music had a plain, road-trip quality that worked well for driving playlists and quiet afternoons.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
