504 Plan was a hardcore punk band from Boston that formed in the mid-1990s. Their lineup included vocalist Ian MacKaye, guitarists Steve Hansgen and Gianmarc Manzione, bassist Mike Watt, and drummer Brendan Canty. They released their debut album 'Morning Sickness' in 1997, which included tracks like 'A Friday Night In D Major' and 'Beating Pillows.'
The band developed a reputation for confrontational live shows that sometimes turned violent. In 1997, an on-stage altercation involving MacKaye escalated into a riot that led to arrests. Their sound was raw and abrasive, with lyrics that addressed social and political themes.
After their debut, 504 Plan released 'The Red Album' in 1999 and 'The Blue Album' in 2001. Following the band's dissolution, members pursued other projects, MacKaye with Fugazi and The Evens, Watt as a bassist and collaborator. They've since reconciled and participated in reunion shows.
