There was a time, not long ago

We lost our minds, the story goes

And we would stay up late in the summer sun, sing along to the same old songs

We had the night to all let go

We spent our lives out of control

If we only knew what we knew right now, maybe we could turn it back around

We had the world in the palm of our hands

We made mistakes, but we still took chances

We had it all, but we took it for granted

When everything is changing, don’t you be afraid

We never wanted it to end up this way, but that’s how stories are made

Our hopes were high, our heads stayed low

That was the life, we’d ever known

Week by week we were stuck on repeat, everything was within our reach

We had a summer time state of mind to stay on track

We had each other to discover anything we lacked

We have a list of everything that we wish we could take back now

We had the world in the palm of our hands
