A Brazilian metal band that's kept its underground sound across six albums.
For a quick sense of Abismo, try 'Insult' or 'Human?', they've got that mix of heaviness and melody that's been there from the start.
Abismo came out of São Paulo's metal scene in the '90s, mixing Black Sabbath's weight with Sepultura's edge. Tracks like 'Insult' show how they blend heavy riffs with atmospheric touches, a sound that's stuck around through lineup changes. They've never lost that raw, melodic aggression, which keeps their music grounded in the city's underground.
The band formed in 1996 with Ely Ramos on vocals and Bruno Mazzei on guitar. Mazzei left in the early 2000s, but Ramos kept it going with new members like guitarist Thiago Penteado. They've released six albums, including 'Noblesse Oblige' in 2002, which had 'Only The Face Changes Pt. 2'.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
