Ihm nach verdiensten lohnen.
Es ist ein mann des blutes,
Für gott ein rechter greuel,
Der blad anstimmen wird,
Der hölle angstgeheul!
Verdächtig volk ist schon gefunden,
Schnell in verhaft und hart gebunden.
Sie werden dem ableib vorgeführt,
Den jeder mit der hand berührt.
Den finger in die wunde legt,
Auf das der leichnam sich bewegt,
Die art des täters zu verkünden,
Zeugschaft zu tun von seinen sünden.
Bricht rotes blut aus alten wunden,
So ist ein sündenbock gefunden,
Der dann dem volk wird vorgestellt,
Des pöbels zorn zum opfer fällt.
Das urteil ist nun schnell gesprochen,
Der ärmste büßt was wer verbrochen,
Verlässt in schande diese welt,
Dem richtschwert er anheim gestellt.
