I Have Become

I have killed a man, a man just like me

I pulled the trigger and down he went

All his hopes his dreams and future

Came to an and, he never thought

He'd die this way in this forsaken land

I had to kill few other and younger than the first

No time for reflection just enough time

To aim and shoot

I saw them lying there, in a pool of blood

Soaking the ground wet

But now they are dead

I don't perform my duties, alone in the dark

We move around in groups

We are the brave troops

I have become the angel of death they call me

The grim ripper

I don't use a sickle for fun,

But just an army issued gun

Now at night, when I try to sleep, all I can do is

Toss and turn. I just can't stop seeing, broken

Bodies burn. I stay awake all night long

Soaked in cold sweat, trying not to think of all

The maimed and dead. They were still so young

And stupid, trying to stop bullets with stones

And now they just lie there

Like some bags of broken bones
