Adrian Borland was the frontman of the post-punk band The Sound, which formed in 1979 with bassist Graham Bailey and drummer Michael Dudley. The group released albums like 'Jeopardy' in 1980 and 'From the Lions Mouth' in 1981. Borland's song 'Open Door' became one of his most recognized tracks.
After The Sound broke up in 1984, Borland worked on solo material including the albums 'Alexandria' and 'Cinematic'. Songs like 'Ordinary Angel' and 'Scale Of Love And Hate' came from this period. He lived in Brixton, South London during his later years.
Borland died by suicide in April 1999. His music, particularly with The Sound, continues to find listeners drawn to its particular atmosphere.
