As Melindrosas

As Melindrosas were an all-female trio from Rio de Janeiro who started performing in the early 1960s. The group included Maria Alcina, Rosinha, and Ruthinha. Their song 'Pinta Pinta' came out in 1964 and became their best-known track.

Their music drew from samba and bossa nova, and they put out albums like 'Melindrosas' in 1964 and 'As Melindrosas em Ritmo de Samba' the following year. Another song people remember is 'O Feiticeiro.'

At the time, some found their style too provocative for the social norms of the day. They kept performing through the late 1960s, with records like 'O Som das Melindrosas' appearing in 1968.
