Jamie and Lilly

Well Jamie gets home from work

Puts a record on

Fixes up the dinner

Waits for Lilly to come

She's been teaching all day

She's got papers to mark

She agrees with the kids

When it comes to homework

But there's a veggie lasagna

Left from last night

She could warm it up

Do a little salad on the side

She lays the table

Pours two glasses of juice

She hears her coming up the stairs

Her key goes in the lock

Then Lilly gets home from work

Kicks off her shoes

She smiles at Jamie and it lights up the room

She's just back from the hospital

Another double shift

She knew that nursing wasn't gonna be easy

But she wasn't expecting this

In fact the only thing

That got her through today

Was knowing she'd be coming home to Jamie again

Dancing round the kitchen

Time is standing still

And for a moment we forget about

The worries of the world

Teaching and nursing

It's been a really long day

But Jamie and Lily count their blessings all the same

The rent in Brighton

Isn't cheap

Which is annoying because

That's where they live

And that's all Jamie wanted

When she was growing up

To move to Brighton

Find a girl and fall in love

That's exactly how it happened

When she met Lilly

Love at first sight

And the rest is history

Jamie went to work

To help pay for Lilly's training

They toughed it out together

Both scrimping and saving

Until that final day

They're both fully qualified

Now just like Jamie

She's working all the time
