Im Hauptsaal der Festung, dort liegt ihr Geliebter
und träumt in der ewigen Nacht.
Ein Abbild der Schönheit, beschienen von Kerzen,
still hält sie über ihn Wacht.
Und nimmt ihr der Tod auch den Körper des Liebsten,
die Liebe, die nimmt er ihr nicht;
so führt sie des Nächtens ihr Herz zu der Festung,
zum Liebsten im Saal voller Licht.
