We saw a drawing of pillows

And it was a beautiful drawing I know

And do you remember the paintings

Of all of the animals with Saint Jerome

And we spent the day on the roof of a building

Until it was time to go home

The day was so heavy and gray that it felt like

Somebody had dipped it in chrome

But the moment had passed so we laughed

Next thing we knew it had hone by so fast

That the sun set at barely half mast

Sometimes it takes the late afternoon light

To make water shimmer like glass

Feeling resigned
