Old Hat

His eyes shift to a portrait on the wall

and everything seems clear

he smiles at his daughter smiling back

he sees her once a year

then he looks down at his desk in the floor

and his fifth cup of coffee that day

he sits and he catches a glimpse of a man

with the face of a man twice his age

and maybe he'll say he's has all he can want

and maybe he'll run around fine

but ask why he hasnt been sleeping

he paces, well she chain smokes

true colours start to show

she turns to red well, he's fading to blue

and they both got there secrets to hide

she's on the phone in a room all alone

he's quietly drinking outside

and maybe she'll say she has all she can want

but this is a new kind of warfare
