Fatal Influence formed in the late 1980s around frontman Damien Blackwood. Their debut album 'Eternal Nightfall' came out in 1992, followed by 'Crimson Shadows' in 1995 and 'The Red Death' in 1998. That last album included 'Darkness (Red Death),' which became their most recognized track.
Their music tended toward heavy guitar work and lyrics that dealt with darker themes, which sometimes drew criticism. But they developed a dedicated following who responded to that atmosphere. They put out one more album, 'Symphony of Shadows,' in 2002 before activity seemed to taper off.
Beyond 'Darkness (Red Death),' other songs like 'Infanticide,' 'Shades Of Grey,' and 'Visions Of Decay' show the band working in that same vein of melodic, heavy metal with gothic touches. The lineup changed at times, but Blackwood remained the constant figure through their recordings.
