Feuerschwanz formed in 2004, a German band that mixes heavy metal with medieval music. Their frontman is Hans "Fahrende" Platz. They've put out eight studio albums, including "Metvernichter" in 2009, "Wunschkonzert" in 2016, and "Meisterschall" in 2021.
Their songs often have a humorous, satirical edge, with lyrics about history and myth. The track "Der Henker" from their 2013 album "Das Elfte Gebot" drew some criticism from religious groups for how it handled religious themes. Other songs like "Schubsetanz" and "Memento Mori" show their style.
They worked with the medieval music group Skalden on the 2008 album "Das Jahrtausendwerk." The current lineup includes Platz on vocals and bagpipes, Michael "Prinz" Seifert on guitars, Stephan "Der Schmied" Schmidt on bass, Tobias "Troll" Baier on drums, Jan "Martini" Martinec on accordion, and Peter "Ritter" Horn on bagpipes.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
