Fishboy came together in Los Angeles in the late 1990s. Their debut album, 'Minus One,' came out in 2000, and its title track caught some attention with its moody, reflective feel. The band was led by a singer and songwriter who went by the name Fish.
Their lineup included guitarists Ace and Jax, bassist Echo, and drummer Zee. They put out a few more records after that first one, like 'Empty Room' in 2003 and 'The Garden' in 2006. Songs like 'A Surprise Return' and 'Aaron The Afterthought Astronaut' show the kind of narrative, slightly off-kilter indie rock they were making.
There were some rough patches along the way, including personal tensions within the group and a publicized drug issue involving Fish. They kept touring and released another album, 'The Dream,' in 2010, but things seemed to wind down after that.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
