Five Guys Named Moe were a vocal sextet from New Orleans who started in the late 1940s. Their biggest hit was "Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens," which came out in 1946. They also recorded songs like "Choo Choo Ch'Boogie" and "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying."
The group's original lineup included Moe Vinson on lead vocals, Alvin "Red" Tyler on baritone, William "Wee Gee" Williams on tenor, Jefferson "Jimbo" Cole on bass, and Clarence "Sonny" Simmons on guitar and vocals. Louis "Big Moe" Wilson managed them.
They worked in a rhythm and blues style with jazz and doo-wop touches, known for tight harmonies and playful lyrics. A compilation called The Best of Five Guys Named Moe was released in 1957, and a later collection, Five Guys Named Moe: The Complete Recordings, came out in 1996.
