Fleurety

Fleurety came out of Norway with a sound that didn't fit neatly into any metal category. Their early work, like the debut album 'Min Tid Skal Komme,' established an approach that mixed harsh vocals and dissonant guitars with more atmospheric touches. Songs such as 'Absence' and 'En Skikkelse I Horisonten' show how they could be both brutal and strangely melodic.

Svein Egil Hatlevik, who performed as Zweizz, was the consistent presence through their recordings. His vocals shifted between guttural growls and something closer to spoken whispers. The band's later albums, including 'Last Spores' and 'Department of Apocalyptic Affairs,' kept experimenting within that framework, never settling into a predictable pattern.

They weren't trying to make easy listening. Tracks like 'Barb Wire Smile' and 'Englers Piler Har Ingen Brodd' are built on tension and irregular structures. That made them a difficult band for some listeners, but it also gave their music a particular kind of weight that didn't sound like anyone else's.
