In een asielzoekerscentrum zit een jongetje. Een jongetje van ongeveer vijf jaar oud. Het is nacht en het jongetje kan niet slapen, hij kan de slaap niet vatten. Hij zit voor het raam en hij kijkt naar buiten. Daar ziet hij allemaal bedrijvigheid:
kale mannen die met jerrycans op en neer lopen. En hij denkt: "Wat is er toch allemaal aan de hand?"
En dan ziet ie hoe één van die kale mannen uit zijn rechterzak een luciferdoosje haalt. Hij haalt er een lucifer uit en strijkt hem af. Maar de lucifer breekt en valt op de grond. Dan wil hij er nog één pakken, maar het doosje is leeg.
De andere kale mannen beginnen naar lucifers te zoeken en het jongetje ziet dat. Dan pakt ie onder zijn bed een doos. En in die doos zit, ingepakt in een zakdoek, een gouden aansteker die hij van zijn vader heeft gekregen bij het afscheid.
Hij rent naar buiten naar de kale mannen en hij zegt: "Hier, d'r zit niet zoveel meer in, maar als je goed schudt kun je er nog een vlammetje uithalen....."
