I Am the Ocean formed in 2005 in Bournemouth with Jamie Oliver on vocals, Emily Dolan Davies on violin, Adam Noble on guitar, Ricky Miller on bass, and Chris Webb on drums. They signed with Fierce Panda Records in 2007 and released their debut album 'Floodland' the following year.

Their 2012 album 'Junior' followed, and they put out a third called 'Lost Keys' in 2015. Some of their songs include 'I'm Pretty Tired And I'm Pretty Old' and 'Bet'cha Your Job'.

In 2014, there was a dispute over an uncleared sample in 'I'm Pretty Tired And I'm Pretty Old,' which the band settled out of court. The lineup has remained the same since they started.
