Jabier Muguruza was a Basque musician who co-founded the band Kortatu in 1976. His song "Itsusia Duk" became particularly well-known, with lyrics that translate to "It's ugly." He also worked with the experimental group Negu Gorriak.
His 1974 album "Haur Doinuak" featured traditional Basque children's songs. Later, in 1982, he released "Euskal Herria Jamaika Clash," which combined reggae rhythms with Basque lyrics. Other songs in his catalog include "Ilunkeran," "A Veces," and "Abenduak 29."
Muguruza died in 2019. His music often addressed themes of Basque identity and language, particularly during the political tensions of the 1970s.
