The frontman behind Scissor Sisters' disco-glam hits now writes his own songs.
For the Scissor Sisters era, 'Take Your Mama Out' still feels like the blueprint. Lately, 'Everything I'll Ever Need' has that same melodic pull, just a bit quieter.
Shears helped shape the sound of 2000s pop with Scissor Sisters tracks like 'Take Your Mama Out', blending disco and glam rock into something both nostalgic and fresh. His solo material, including 'All I Want' with Boys Noize, shows he's still pushing that energy forward. The memoir 'Boys Keep Swinging' adds a personal layer to the music he's been making for years.
He met Ana Matronic in New York in 2001, and Scissor Sisters released their debut album in 2004. After five studio albums with the band, Shears started putting out solo songs like 'Kiss For Kiss' and 'Everything I'll Ever Need'.
