Jedi Mind Tricks

Jedi Mind Tricks formed in Philadelphia in 1996, built around rapper Vinnie Paz and producer Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind. Their debut album, 'The Psycho-Social, Chemical, Biological & Electro-Magnetic Manipulation of Human Consciousness,' came out the following year. The group's sound was defined by Stoupe's dense, sample-heavy production and Vinnie Paz's aggressive, often philosophical delivery.

They found their footing with 2000's 'Violent by Design,' which included tracks like 'Design In Malice' and 'Animal Rap.' That album's raw, confrontational style established their place in underground hip-hop. Later records like 'Visions of Gandhi' and 'The Thief and the Fallen' continued in a similar vein, with songs such as 'Razorblade Salvation' and 'The Coming of Tan' becoming fan favorites.

Over time, the group became a hub for like-minded artists, frequently collaborating with rappers from their extended circle. They also formed the larger collective Army of the Pharaohs, which shares its name with one of their songs. Their work has maintained a dedicated following, drawn to its unpolished intensity and lyrical focus on darker themes.
