Jenny Lewis grew up singing in church and local choirs in Los Angeles. In 1999 she co-founded the indie rock band Rilo Kiley with Blake Sennett, and the group put out four studio albums that mixed indie, folk, and country sounds.
She started her solo career in 2006 with the album "Rabbit Fur Coat," which highlighted her songwriting and vocals. She followed it with records like "Acid Tongue" in 2008 and "Voyager" in 2014. In 2010 she was diagnosed with Meniere's disease, a condition that affects hearing and balance.
Her songs often deal with love, loss, and self-discovery, drawing from rock, folk, and psychedelic influences. You can hear that range in tracks like "Red Bull & Hennessy" and "You Are What You Love."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
