Kisschasy formed in Melbourne in 1996 with Dean Turner on vocals and guitar, Paul Smith on guitar, Sean Mackay on bass, and Brad Heald on drums. Their debut album 'United Paper People' came out in 2000, featuring the single 'Anger Is The Brand New Thing' which connected with listeners drawn to their raw, energetic approach.
Over the next decade, the band released albums like 'Stringer' in 2003 and 'Sea of Love' in 2005. Their lineup shifted several times, with Heald leaving in 2003 and Mackay departing in 2008. By 2010, Turner was the only original member left.
They kept recording and touring into the 2010s, putting out 'Sky Kissing' in 2012 and 'Midnight in the City' in 2018. Songs like 'Black Dress' and 'Dinosaur' show the kind of direct, guitar-driven indie rock they were known for.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
