An Icelandic trio building sparse, atmospheric spaces with experimental drone arrangements.
For a good sense of their sound, 'Kalt' and 'Myrkrið Kallar' frame it well, that dark ambient texture with vocals floating over the top.
They've carved out a specific corner of dark ambient music that doesn't sound like much else coming out of Iceland or anywhere else. Songs like 'Draumadís' show how they build these sparse, atmospheric spaces where Laufey Soffía's vocals float over the arrangements. Their approach stays fairly open and textural, which gives the whole thing an introspective, sometimes isolated feel.
They formed in Reykjavik and put out their first album in 2014. Since then they've released records like 'Nótt Eftir Nótt' in 2016, 'Undir Skinni' in 2019, and 'Mánadans' in 2023, working in that same experimental vein the whole time.
