Diep verscholen in het groen ligt een dorpje,
bescheiden en van geen gewicht,
daar zag op een goede morgen,
kleine Jan het levenslicht.
Alle klokken gingen luiden
voor de pasgeboren man,
en hun zingen wou beduiden :
"Hart'lijk welkom, kleine Jan".
Vurig klonk in de gebeden :
"Leidt 'm Heer, in wel en wee,
nu is hij nog onbedreven,
maak 'n man van hem in 't leven,
geef hem steeds uw zegen mee".
Diep verscholen in het groen ligt een dorpje,
de zon stond hoog aan 't hemelblauw,
en daar vond twintig jaren later,
kleine Jan de ware vrouw.
Alle klokken gingen luiden
voor de bruid en voor haar man,
en hun zingen wou beduiden :
"Wees gelukkig, kleine Jan".
Vurig klonk in de gebeden :
"Lieve Heer, gedenk die twee,
schenk hen beiden lange jaren,
om hun liefde te bewaren,

kleine Jan weer van ons heen.
