FECHA: Cancún, Quintana Roo 5 de junio.
CUERPO:
El gerente de un hotel vecino de una zona arqueológica de Cancún,
ordenó envenenar a más de 500 iguanas
que molestaban a los turistas.
Aunque inspectores de la Dirección Municipal de Ecología,
constataron la denuncia de algunos empleados,
no pudieron encontrar evidencias para castigar esta masacre,
dijo el titular de la oficina: Miguel Navarro.
Ecología Municipal recibió la denuncia de que el nuevo gerente del hotel
Sheraton: Dieter Roesler, mandó envenenar a las iguanas con el argumento de
que ya eran una plaga.
En una parte del Hotel concesionada, por el Instituto Nacional de
Antropología e Historia, para explotar una zona arqueológica, la devastación
de los mangles y de la selva, ha provocado que las iguanas emigren a lo que
quedó de la duna, además de que hicieron sus casas en las pocas piedras que
existen en la playa, explicó.
Navarro comentó que la iguana es una especie protegida por las normas
oficiales mexicanas ya que está en peligro de extinción.
