O-shen formed in Paris in 1995 with vocalist Mélody, guitarist Alain, bassist Thierry, drummer Jean-Louis, and keyboardist Laurent. Their debut single "Mon Chat" came out a few years later and became a hit in France, leading to an album of the same name in 1998.
They released several more albums through the early 2000s, including "Ailleurs" in 2000 and "Sortilège" in 2002. Songs like "Abécédaire Amoureux" and "Island Girl" show the band's melodic style. Keyboardist Laurent died in a car accident in 2000.
O-shen's music sometimes drew criticism for its lyrics and performances. They kept recording into the late 2000s and early 2010s with albums like "La Robe et le Pantalon" and "Belle d'Été."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
