Palatka formed in Edinburgh in 2005 with Jamie Hunter on vocals and guitar, Chris Hughes on bass, and Chris Connolly on drums. They released their first album, 'An Elegy for the Faithful,' in 2009, which included the song 'Another Sort of Blacklist.'

Chris Hughes left the band in 2011 and was replaced by Chris Sellar. They put out two more albums, 'The Astronaut's Guide to Bad Habits' in 2013 and 'The Organised Chaos of Existence' in 2016. Their catalog also includes songs like 'Where The Teachers Go To Learn,' 'Black Elk,' and 'Haunted House Movie.'

They released another album called 'The Atlas of Dreaming Cities' in 2020.
