Quase Dois formed in the early 2000s with Ricardo Japinha on vocals and guitar, Rafael Rocha on bass, and Fabio Pagliuso on drums. They put out their self-titled debut in 2004, followed the next year by the album 'Bebemorar,' which gave them their breakthrough hit of the same name. The song's lyrics about loneliness and substance use drew some criticism, but it connected with listeners and became a staple of their set.
They kept releasing albums through the 2000s and into the 2010s, including 'Sujeito a Trocas' in 2007 and 'Tudo Que Você Sempre Quis' in 2010. Their sound mixed indie rock with electronic and dance elements, and other tracks like 'Fora de Controle' and 'Taradão da Cidade' show that blend. The lineup shifted at times, with Marcelo Loesch joining on keyboards and backing vocals.
By 2013 they had put out 'Era Uma Vez,' their fifth studio album. They built a loyal following in Brazil's alternative scene, known for songs that didn't shy away from darker or more explicit themes, as titles like 'Cemitério Pornô' and 'Jaguatirica Sem Pelo' suggest.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
