Trat ich in eine Schenke ein
Ich aß Am wohligen Feuerschein
und trank und ich wärmte mich
In einer dunklen Ecke saßen drei Burschen
Schmutzig, gröhlend und gemein
Die Wirtin beschimpfend verschwanden sie
Das mußten üble Kerle sein
So zog ich dann los, mein Weg war noch weit
Bald schon war mir wieder kalt
Um Schutz zu finden vor der Witterung
Ging ich durch einen dichten Wald
Plötzlich sprangen drei Burschen aus dem Gebüsch
Schwer bewaffnet und gemein
Ich zog mein Schwert und erwehrte mich

Da schallte vom Himmel hoch
Ein eindrucksvolles Rabenschrein
Ich schöpfte Kraft und ergab mich nicht
Denn ich fühlte mich nicht mehr allein
Der Rabe stürtzte auf die Schurken hinab
Verletzte jeden im Gesicht
Vor lauter Angst und Irritation
Flohen sie zurück ins Gebüsch
Die dicken Wolken verzogen sich
Wichen rasch dem Sonnenschein
Und über mir, da hörte ich laut
Dies eindrucksvolle Rabenschrein
Wie ein König der Lüfte flog er dahin
In den Abendsonnenschein
Und in der Ferne vernahm ich leis
