Follow the road,

it turns like leaves.

My wife, shiny lady,

My child asleep.

Slow through the prairie,

gentle on the pedal,

her voice drops a story,

points up through the trees.

All the stars were falling.

She said it was a godsend.

I promised her that I

would take her where the stars land.

Mare in the pasture,

who my love loved,

take my lonesome body in.

I seen her riding,

her mouth half open.

Child, sleep longer,

you're still with your mother.

climbed into the shotgun,

the moans of the mare,
