Sarina formed in the early 2000s with vocalist Mariko Nanba, guitarist Daisuke Kikuchi, and bassist Naoki Takenaka. They played experimental rock with a raw emotional edge that came through in their live shows.
In 2007 they released the single "Identity," which explored themes of self-acceptance and societal pressure.
They faced censorship and financial difficulties at times, but kept making music. Their work stayed focused on questions of identity and belonging.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
