Short Sharp Shock was a late-1970s punk band whose brief existence left behind a handful of recordings and a reputation for abrasive energy. Their 1977 EP 'No Way Out' and the 1978 live album 'Live at the Roxy' captured their raw sound, which featured John Lydon's snarling vocals and Keith Levene's jagged guitar work.
The band's confrontational approach extended to their live shows, where Lydon's stage presence led to clashes with authorities and venue bans.
Short Sharp Shock dissolved in 1979 amid internal conflicts. Lydon would soon form Public Image Ltd., while Glen Matlock and Paul Cook had already been involved with the Sex Pistols. Their small catalog, including songs like 'Eat Me, Drink Me? Burn Me' and 'Foreign Body Plot,' remains a snapshot of that particular moment in British punk.
