SMZB formed in Los Angeles in 2005 with vocalist and guitarist Sam Montoya, bassist Jake Rodriguez, and drummer Mike Morales. Their sound was raw from the start, and they built a following with early albums like 'Unleashed' in 2007. Songs like 'Born To Pay' and 'Scream For Life' became staples, driven by Montoya's charged lyrics and the band's straightforward rock energy.

They released 'Born to Pay' as an album in 2009, followed by 'Blood, Sweat, and Tears' in 2012 and 'Devil's Playground' in 2015. Tracks such as 'Drunk With City' and 'Tour For Freedom' kept their sound direct and unpolished. Their shows sometimes drew attention for being rowdy, and Montoya's lyrics often touched on social themes that sparked debate.

Over time, SMZB's music stayed rooted in that initial approach, loud guitars, simple structures, and lyrics that didn't shy from confrontation. They never really softened or chased trends, which kept their core audience listening.
