Archive material and source history

S.N.F.U. started in Edmonton in 1981 with vocalist Chi Pig, guitarist Marc Belke, bassist Dave Bacon, and drummer Jon Card. They put out independent EPs and toured North America while dealing with the usual money problems of a young punk band. Their early material included songs like 'A-Bomb' and 'Cannibal Cafe' that got them noticed in the hardcore scene.

They released albums like 'And No One Else Wanted to Play' in 1985 and 'If You Swear, You'll Catch No Fish' in 1987. The lyrics on tracks such as 'Reality Is a Ride On The Bus' and 'Drunk On A Bike' mixed social commentary with a dark sense of humor. Chi Pig stayed as the frontman through various lineup shifts over the decades.

S.N.F.U. kept playing shows and recording, with songs like 'Electric Chair' and 'Beautiful, Unlike You And I' appearing in their later work. They never really broke big commercially, but they maintained a dedicated following in punk circles for their straightforward, energetic approach.
